The 2010 Hall of Fame honorees include:

Mr. Tom Beatty, who served the Tonganoxie school district from 1949 to 1966.
Mr. Jim Conway, who served the district from 1955 to 1986.

Mr. Phil Lobb, who taught Tonganoxie students from 1959 to 1994.
Mrs. Marilyn Roberts Lobb, a 1954 THS graduate who taught in Tonganoxie from 1967 to 1994.

Alumni Database
Are you in the alumni database? More than 1,500 graduates have been located so far in this project being coordinated by the USD 464 Education Foundation. Information will not be shared and will only be used for distributing the Chieftain Connections (the alumni newsletter) and communicating other alumni news.  Please e-mail Debbie Shoemaker Krivjansky, Class of 1983, at debbiek@firststateks.com to provide your contact information. Please let her know your name (please include maiden name if applicable), year of graduation, mailing address and e-mail address. The Foundation is working to obtain as many e-mail addresses as possible to save on printing and postage costs associated with the alumni newsletter, Chieftain Connections.  We appreciate your help!

USD 464 Education Foundation
The Education Foundation supports the mission of USD 464 which is "to provide each student with a positive and personalized educational experience which empowers them to achieve high levels of success in all endeavors, make responsible choices and become positive contributors to society." Great things are happening in Tonganoxie schools and today's students are aiming for excellence! Your donations support activities like grants for classroom instruction, district-wide projects for student enrichment and scholarships for graduating seniors.

One way the Foundation supports our students is through teacher grants. At the Foundation's April 2010 meeting, 12 grant proposals were submitted by the district's teachers. These proposals ranged from using funds to purchase skeletal models for use by anatomy and biology students, acquiring a new kiln for art students, to the "greening of THS" by science students planting and maintaining new trees on school grounds. With your donations and additional funds provided by several Tonganoxie businesses, all 12 grants this semester were approved for a total of $5,147.50. Thank you for your generous donations! Read the Press Release . . .

Please consider making a donation to the Foundation through a one-time or annual gift or through deferred giving such as life insurance, annuities, stock, etc. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization so contributions are tax deductible. Please mail contributions to the USD 464 Education Foundation, P.O. Box 199, Tonganoxie, KS  66086-0199. For more information or to make arrangements for deferred giving, please call the district office at 913/845-2153. Thank you!

Alumni Banquet
The 2011 banquet will be held Saturday, May 7, at the high school.  The Class of 1986 will host the banquet, and the Class of 1961 will be honored guests.  Further details will be available on this website as the event approaches.

Chieftain Remembrance Walk
A very special area now greets guests to Tonganoxie High School! The Chieftain Remembrance Walk is a courtyard at the entrance to the school that includes bricks to honor a graduate, family member, or a beloved teacher or coach.  In the center of the courtyard is a "T," which includes bricks to honor deceased classmates, teachers and administrators. Bricks are inscribed with honorees' names and special sentiments. Families are purchasing bricks for each THS graduate, and some families have purchased bricks to honor members through four generations. This is an on-going project, and bricks are available for purchase by alumni and community members.  Each brick is $45, of which $20 is tax deductible. To obtain an order form, please visit the walk's website at www.chieftainwalk.org.
