1996 Tonganoxie High School graduate Micah Bray now serves as the Public Information Officer for the Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office.

Micah’s career in media began in 2000, when he interned at Sports Radio 810 WHB and began working full-time at KCTV5 News, gaining valuable hands-on experience operating a studio camera and managing the station’s assignment desk. From 2013 to 2015, Micah worked at Fox 4 News before returning to KCTV5, where he excelled as a newsroom manager until 2023. In March 2023, Micah joined the Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office as the Public Information Officer, where he finds great fulfillment in serving his hometown community.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Micah was an outstanding athlete at Tonganoxie High School, where he competed in cross country, track and field, and basketball. A decorated competitor, he lettered multiple times and won several medals while competing at the state track meet. He continues to hold the 300 intermediate hurdles record at THS. One of his most memorable moments was defeating Basehor-Linwood’s top-ranked Class 4A basketball team in 1996.

After high school, Micah attended Johnson County Community College (JCCC) and the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC), where he studied secondary education and journalism and competed on the track and field teams. Micah still holds the intermediate hurdle and decathlon records at JCCC, and his UMKC track team was inducted into the Kansas City Sports Hall of Fame after winning multiple conference championships.

Reflecting on his time at Tonganoxie, Micah recalls the significant influences of his teachers: “The biggest blessing while a student was that so many teachers took an interest in my life as a kid – I had more parents than I could count, and they all ensured I would succeed. I wouldn’t trade my time at Tongie for anything.”
