Let's hear it for second grade teacher Sharity Porta, USD 464's nominee for Kansas Teacher of the Year at the secondary level! The Kansas Teacher of the Year program is facilitated by the Kansas State Department of Education and recognizes representatives of excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state. Mrs. Porta will advance to the regional competition; regional finalists move on to the state competition. KTOY state finalists serve as ambassadors for education in Kansas, making public appearances across the state, and they are nominated to represent Kansas in the National Teacher of the Year program.
