Every year March is set aside nationally as Youth Art Month to celebrate youth art (YAM). The Kansas Art Education Association coordinates a celebration at the state level, featuring an art exhibit and reception for student artists, parents, and teachers. KAEA also partners with BLICK Art in sponsoring an art competition during Youth Art Month.
We are excited to announce that two TES students will have their artwork on display in Topeka for Youth Art Month. Pieces by fourth grader Marilee Long and fifth grader Lucas Schloerb will be featured as part of the YAM exhibition at Topeka Shawnee County Public Library from February 25 to March 29. There is a People's Choice Award, so if you are in Topeka next month, please consider stopping by and voting for our artists. People's Choice voting ends on March 23rd.
Their artwork is also entered into the Blick YAM Art Competition. If selected, their artwork would be on display digitally at the National Art Education Association Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, as part of the National Youth Art Month Exhibition.
Congratulations Marilee and Lucas; we are proud of you!
