As winners of the TES canned food drive, Mrs. DeKeyser's kindergarten students got to participate in the annual City of Tonganoxie Christmas tree lighting and parade! They met Mayor Frese and led the parade with him. He complimented them on their ability to follow instructions and their respectful behavior. We are so proud! ❤️🤍 #tongienation #usd464





Community members, fifth grade Student Council members, & Mrs. DeKeyser's class came together on pickup day to help sort, stack, & load canned food drive donations. TES students collected nearly 6,000 canned food items during this year's drive! Well done, Braves!

Mrs. DeKeyser's kindergarten class received several generous donations for the annual TES canned food drive! Before fall break, her students worked together to unload a truck delivery putting their class total at a whopping 1,248 cans! Mrs. Streeter's & Mrs. Tinberg's kindergarten classes made a "Friendship Stew" & celebrated Friendsgiving! Students made connections with "Farm to Table" with the items they put in their stew to go along with their farm unit. They even helped make homemade butter with rolls, and we couldn't forget the pumpkin pie! 🌽🥕🫛🍅🥔🫘🥖🥧 #tongienation #usd464











Kindergarten and 1st grade have wrapped up two printmaking challenges & are working on another, 2nd grade is learning origami, & 3rd is having a blast with magnets! TAB/Choice Based Art & studios will soon be in full swing at TES! #TAB #choicebasedart #tongienation #usd464










Mrs. Maize's fifth grade math students practiced plotting ordered pairs. The ordered pairs created a turkey with a sign saying, "Eat Salad!" Students then colored their turkeys and gave them funny names! 🦃🥗📈 #tongienation #usd464






Mrs. Tinberg partnered with the THS FFA program to bring a few animals to school as a cumulative activity for kindergarteners to conclude their unit about farms! Students were able to meet a cow, a piglet, and chickens and learn what it takes to raise them. Huge shout out to the THS FFA members for their wonderful help! #tongienation #usd464 #FFA






Kindergarten students in Mrs. DeKeyser's, Mrs. Spencer's, Mrs. Pierce's, and Miss Parr's classes participated in an event with farm animals this morning! Big congrats to Georgia Hatfield, a 4th grader in Mrs. Olsen’s class! She is a national winner in Wenger Music Corporation's design contest. Out of hundreds of student & adult entries, her music rug design will soon be featured in classrooms worldwide! 🌎🎶 #tongienation #usd464


Mrs. Marxen's afternoon preschool class talked about colors and how mixing two colors makes a new color! Students practiced their fine motor skills by making new colors. #tongienation #usd464

Mrs. Lawson's art classes have been doing their attachment challenge, a precursor to opening up the Sculpture Studio for 3rd, 4th & 5th grade. Students were not allowed to use glue or staples; they had to rely on 2 pieces of tape & other forms of attachment. This was a timed challenge & they were given a prompt to base their sculpture off of. This is third grade's first time doing this challenge. 8 is great! On Friday, Mrs. Tinberg's class tuned in for the live election results watch party for Discover Dairy's America's Favorite Calf Contest. Their adopted calf May got eighth place!
