The Tonganoxie High School dance and cheer teams brought home a number of awards and accolades from the 2023 KSHSAA Summer Spirit Camps last week. The camps, facilitated by the Universal Dance Association and Universal Cheerleaders Association, were held at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas.
The Chieftain Stars received first place for their home routine. They also received the Full Out award and earned a bid to Nationals!
Chieftain Stars Kenny Somolik, Mya Lewis, and Alyssa Novotney received Pin it Forward awards.
Alyssa Novotney, Maddie Mahoney, Mya Lewis, & Jyden Darrow were named All-American Dancers.
Alyssa Novotney, Mya Lewis, & Maddie Mahoney were invited to join UDA staff!
The THS Cheer Team received second place for their camp routine. They received a speciality award for Best Choreography, a Blue ribbon for their Sideline performance, and a Gold ribbon for their camp routine performance.
Journey Creten received a Pin it Forward award & was invited to join UCA staff!
Chieftain Cheerleaders Journey Creten, Khrisalyn Wright, Alaina Lorfing, & Makinsey Bell were named All-American Cheerleaders.
The Chieftain Stars Dance Team is coached by head coach Bailey Bradley and assistant coach Emma DeMaranville. Tonganoxie Cheer is led by head coach Baylie Kiefer and assistant coach Emma DeMaranville.
