The basketball season is in full swing, and last night, our middle school teams faced off against Woodland Springs. The 7th grade teams continued their impressive streak, securing their third consecutive wins for both the A and B teams. The B Team showed significant improvement, defeating Woodland Springs 26-18. The guards are stepping up their game, with Jameson McAfee standing out as a key contributor. Jameson has shown tremendous growth, demonstrating better decision-making and patience with his shot. Overall, the team is excelling with strong man-to-man defense and unselfish play on offense. The 7th grade A Team also delivered another strong performance, scoring 35 and 32 points in their last two first halves. However, there’s room to improve in playing down the stretch and finishing games stronger. They secured a solid 50-36 win, with Mason Sparks shining as a playmaker, racking up 15 assists by creating easy scoring opportunities for his teammates. The A Team continues to run an efficient offense and make strides defensively. The 8th grade teams are navigating a challenging patch but remain committed to improving and bouncing back stronger. Their hard work and dedication will undoubtedly pay off. The A Teams are gearing up for their next challenge at the Bonner Springs Tournament this Saturday, while both teams will return to action next Tuesday at Baldwin. The season is heating up, and the boys are making great progress! #tongienation #usd464

TMS Basketball was back in action on Tuesday night, with the 7th grade teams hosting Eudora while the 8th grade teams traveled to Eudora for their games. The 7th graders had a strong showing, earning two victories, while the 8th grade teams faced tough competition on the road and came up short in both games. In the 7th grade B Team game, Asher Hoff delivered a standout performance, scoring 10 points in a single run and proving himself as a rising offensive threat for the team. His growth exemplifies the hard work and progress being made by players across the board. The 7th grade A Team secured a 53-43 victory, thanks to solid execution on offense in the first half that helped them build a 10+ point lead. Layton Witte shone with several strong drives to the basket, while post players Mykel Marks and Nathanael Meitler continued their steady, consistent play. Mason Sparks stood out at point guard, hitting clutch free throws and jump shots to secure the win. The teams will return to action on Thursday against Woodland Springs.

The TMS Boys Basketball season is off to an exciting start, despite winter's attempts to slow things down. On January 13, the 7th and 8th grade teams faced off against Louisburg in their first games of the season. 7th grade traveled to Louisburg and played two very close games, with the B Team narrowly losing 15-13 and the A Team falling just short at 33-30. Both games were thrillers, showcasing the players' tremendous effort and competitive spirit—a great way to kick off the season! 8th grade teams had mixed results but showed promising signs of growth. The B Team fought hard in a close game, losing by just 4 points, while the A Team delivered a commanding performance, securing a 20-point victory. This impressive turnaround reflects the players' hard work during the off-season and improved coaching, especially considering the narrow losses to Louisburg last year. Great job, gentlemen! The boys are gearing up for their next games on Thursday, with 8th grade heading to Paola and 7th grade hosting Paola. Go Warriors! šŸ€šŸ€šŸ€ #tongienation #usd464

TMS loves to read! Some of our book clubs read The Wild Robot. After everyone finished the book, we had a Wild Robot movie party, complete with pizza, popcorn & drinks! The discussions that followed were filled with excitement. It was a great way for students to engage with literature and analyze storytelling; plus, who doesn't love a movie day after school?! #tongienation #usd464
