Students in Kathy Harrell's eighth grade history classes have been studying cowboys & their place in our nation's history. They dressed as cowboys & did a simulated cattle round up and drive. TMS conducted a Lockdown drill this week in collaboration with the Tonganoxie Police Department to practice our Standard Response Protocol procedures and empower our students and staff to respond to any potential threats in our building. TMS FCCLA had a great closing session at their State Leadership Conference last week! Our chapter was honored with the Financial Fitness National Program state award, the Stand Up National Program state award, and the Platinum State Community Service award. Karsyn Platt and Addyson O'Hare received a ribbon for their LEO project, and two teams qualified for the National Leadership Conference in Seattle this summer! Lauren Breuer and Adlen Johnson qualified with their National Programs in Action STAR Event, while Zayleigh Barton and Xavia Holt qualified with their Instructional Video Design STAR Event. The TMS FCCLA chapter members have worked hard and dedicated their time to community service, LEOs, and STAR Events this year. Hard work pays off, and we are so proud of our chapter! #tongienation #usd464

Mrs. Ketchum's seventh grade science classes recently embarked on some serious hands-on learning: dissecting frogs! Students have been buzzing about this lab since they first walked into her classroom back in August. They worked well together following the lab instructions and learning about the anatomy of the frog and the importance behind dissections. Many students said it was a great experience! The first day at Kansas FCCLA State Leadership Conference was a success for our TMS students. On Monday morning, students competed in STAR Events and LEOs. At the FCCLA opening session, TMS FCCLA received a Community Service National Program state award. Some of our students were also recognized for receiving a grant from the Kansas FCCLA Educational Foundation to help with their STAR Event! #tongienation #usd464 #FCCLA
